• Market strategy: Advised attorneys about how to proceed with the projects depending on the patent situation, for example: launch at risk (go to the market), attacking third-party patents (nullity proceedings),
applying for a patent; analysing each market and to support the overall strategy of the company.
• Pipeline & project management: Managed over 90 projects of different therapeutic areas including routes of synthesis,
compositions, formulations and indications under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Knowledge management: Maintained databases of Sandoz projects on patent landscape updated.
• Technical expertise: Trained attorneys-at-law in chemical and pharmaceutical patents enabling them to have a clearer
understanding of claims in pharmaceutical patents.
• Meetings & events: Led internal discussion groups regarding databases, chemistry searching and patent issues across Novartis divisions.
Participated in discussion groups within Sandoz patent department regarding patent law and case law.
Attended numerous conferences and courses around Europe regarding Patents and Pharmaceutical/Chemistry matters.
• Competitive intelligence: Monitored competitors, followed R&D tendencies and searched for gaps in the market to come up with new products.
• Business strategy: Collaborated closely with the different departments to develop strategies to follow according to the different projects. Involved with over 25 different R&D, adverse drug reactions, pre-clinical and clinical projects performing patent and scientific searches and evaluating the results.
