•build, maintain & expand effective relationships with key employers in Al Gharbia and act as point of contact for visiting employers and HCT personnel
•plan, organise & deliver on all aspects of annual Al Gharbia Career Fair (working jointly with Western Region Development Council counterparts)
- counsel students on majors choices & career options
•identify & investigate potential providers of Work Placement positions
•coordinate all aspects of securing Work Placement positions for graduating students
•mentor Work Placement students in the workplace & liaise with their employers
•provide students with assistance writing CVs, cover letters etc., & preparing for job applications and interviews
•investigate and assess scholarship opportunities for students
•promote summer training opportunities and assist with student applications
•deliver workshops on career-related topics at Al Gharbia Career Fairs
•promote the resources and services the Career Centre provides to students
•identify & investigate opportunities for sponsorship of college events / initiatives
•assist in development of Higher Colleges Careers Portal - currently working on populating portal with data
•conduct HCT Graduate Employment Survey with all Al Gharbia HCT graduates
•actively engage in other non-Careers related initiatives e.g. lead organiser of 2041 Antarctica Trip (2013); member of organising committee for Tour de Al Gharbia Cycle Race (2010 - 2013); HCT organiser of WRDC Mangrove Planting initiative (2012); active participant at WRDC Education & Employment meetings
This practical course has as its objective that participants will develop the necessary skills to coach clients in a range of settings from corporate to individual private clients. The foundation of the course is the development of key listening, questioning, goal setting and feedback strategies and their application with clients who have expressed a desire to make changes in their lives.
This program was a combination of online course-work and practical components. The overall objective of the program was to develop an understanding of the role Career Development & Education plays successful organisations, both in terms of the theoretical underpinnings as well as the practical application of the skills and procedures necessary to plan and implement these types of activities in a workplace setting.
The objective of this course was to develop a theoretical understanding of general counseling, as well as the origin, development and application of career counseling. In addition to the theoretical side, and more importantly, the program required me to develop and master the practical skills of counseling with a particular focus of career-related issues.
The Masters program in Education (TESOL) was a course-work program aimed at providing an all-round grounding in the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages.
