The infrastructure area consist of all the underground and aboveground services (compressed air, natural gas, fire protection, potable water, sewage network, raw water, and storm water) feeding the phase 2 plants, a compressor building with 4 compressors, a primary gas skid and a complete road network. The material handling area consist of a 5 km offshore conveyor, a new reclaim system and feed system capable of discharging simultaneously two vessel of alumina and or coke. As a deputy Area Project Manager, my key responsibilities included:

-Supervise Contractor’s project managers to ensure that project is delivered safely, as per quality standards and within budget
-Ensure safety procedures are implemented and targets reached
-Coordinate engineering interfaces between different areas
-Ensure all procurement procedure are followed and scope changes identified
-Coordinate construction activities and ensure interface between different areas
-Control and monitor Cost Budget. Final Cost Forecast is over 225 million US dollars.
-Control and monitor Engineering and construction schedule
-Prepare schedule mitigation plan for management approval
-Chairman of a weekly client review meeting to review progress and address any client concerns.
Achievements:

-Completed all works required to acheive the First Hot Metal target date
-Current Project cost forecast within the allocated budget
-Negotiated substantial cost saving on claims and variation orders
-Participated in Value added Engineering to reduce project cost
-No Lost Time Incident recorded for any Contractor’s working in both Infrastructure and material handling areas

Area Project Manager-Service Buildings at SNC-LAVALIN

The Service Buildings Area is made of 34 buildings; 11 Substations, 16 Electrical rooms, Workshop, Service Center, Administration building, Guard House and Mosque, for a total building surface of 30, 000 m2. As an Area Manager, my key responsibilities included:

-Supervise Contractor’s project managers to ensure that project is delivered safely, as per quality standard and within budget
-Ensure safety measures and procedures are implemented
-Coordinate construction activities and ensure interface
-Control and monitor Cost Budget. Final Cost slightly over 110 million US dollars.
-Control and monitor Engineering and Construction schedule
-Manage Contractors under the terms of a contract
-Ensure quality control inspection and records
-Review the main resources and equipments required for the project
-Propose solution to expedite site works and ensure timely completion

Achievements:

-Completed all works required to acheive the First Hot Metal milestone
-Assessed important Contractor’s claims and managed to close them at no cost
-No Lost Time Incident recorded for any Contractor’s working for the service buildings area
-Managed well under tremendeous amount of pressure to mitigate delays and provide access to operation personnel on time

Lead Planner and Cost Engineer at SNC-LAVALIN

The Construction Village was built before the start of the Qatalum Aluminium smelter project at the Mesaieed Industrial Park in Qatar. This camp had a capacity to lodge 10, 000 workers and was built on a massive area of 490, 000 square meters (about the size of 70 football fields). As a Lead Planner and Cost Engineer, my key responsibilities included:

-Prepare and presents Project Monthly Report
-Supervise, review, and evaluate project milestones and schedule
-Lead project schedule review meetings
-Prepare mitigation plans and evaluate the need of additional resources and their related cost
-Monitor and forecast project cost
-Prepare project cash flow
-Review and approve subcontractor invoice
-Review subcontractor variation orders

Achievements:

-Prepared acceleration schedule to recover delays and complete camp just in itme
-Negotiatied susbtantial cost saving on all Contractor variation orders
