The job is Designing telecommunication network for Network Rail UK. The work involved can be broken down into the following
1) Ability to conduct Surveys on UK rail network
2) The safety on the rail network is of paramount important hence being familiar and up to date with the standards and safe process is a big part of the job
3) Producing various levels of design on how the telecoms for the Railway work in a safe and consistent way.
4) Being up to speed with the new fibre technologies, having understand of IP networks and deep understanding of how signalling system interfaces with the telecommunication network
5) Producing Outline and detailed designed that are used for construction.
• Representing National Engineering Despatch Unit and making decisions on resource allocation.
• Linking the project/delivery management with field engineering work force.
• Assisting in job creation and ensuring smooth execution of the tasks.
• Monitoring and maintaining CLICK Work Force Management System.
• Escalating any shortfalls or irregularities on day to day bases.
• Establishing a critical link between the business and its engineering work force.
Projects:
• UAT testing for an upgrade of CLICK WFMS system.
• Responsible of planning and scheduling back up installs for major BOOTs stores across England.
• Coordinating smooth delivery of courses to the various learners.
• Liaising with assessors, teachers and HR business partners to ensure candidates fulfill the legal requirements and ensuring learning progress is monitored.
• Ensuring courses run through the planned deadlines.
• Providing information to marketing and sales teams to help screen candidates fulfilling minimum requirements.
• Organising and coordinating events to sign up candidates.
• Assisting management in internal and external auditing.
• Implementing various techniques of cost budget analysis for multiple projects.
• Assisting the finance department in monthly pay roll creation.
• Working alongside the company`s accountant in preparing yearly management accounts.
• Maintaining day to day sales and purchase ledger.
• Regular involvement in company`s operational and commercial management processes.
• Assisting in preparation of company`s 2011/12 budget.
• Suggesting and implementing various cost cutting improvements
Masters in Engineering Project Management (Merit) Coventry University, Coventry, UK Core Modules: Project Planning, Monitoring and Control, Quality Management and Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management, Financial Risk Analysis and Engineering Strategy Scored Merit in ALL MODULES.
Telecommunication Engineering focussed on various elements of telecoms like Fixed telecoms networks, GSM technologies, SCADA systems and fibre optic networks. The degree also covered Software oriented courses like Object Oriented programming, C++ and Cisco basic understanding. Lastly, there were also course for History, English literature and 'Islamic studies focused on everyday life'
